ZINE: ritual/distraction

10.00

Author: Jenna Sten

ritual/distraction is a creative-nonfiction zine about mental health, softness, accountability, and acceptance. It’s organised into eight parts: Burn / Plant / Consume / Preserve / Soak / Map / Externalise / Feel.

Part abstract suggestions, part personal anecdotes; this zine is about mental health management, not cures. Therapy and/or medication are your go-tos for professional help, but there are routines and rituals you can establish on your own too.

Distraction has two faces; it can be grounding in a crisis, or create apathy in a rut. A ritual can be nourishing, cleansing, pleasurable or generous – it can also be destructive. Do what feels right, and check if it still feels right the next time.

You can read an excerpt here.
